Queensland Outback Tour

After many ifs, buts and maybes, the car is packed, the AVAN is modified and ready and tomorrow, the road stretches all the way to Uluru.

We've been there before with our three kids, as part of a three month camping tour (Australia Under Canvas 95). At the start of the tour they were the "are we there yet" chorus but a few weeks in, they were always looking forward to what adventures each day would bring. Of course, it was all canvas and tent pegs and everything organised into a purpose built trailer. These days, we do it in lazy luxury in our house on wheels. True, we aren't toting out lounge room around behind us and we still have to do some setting up at the end of the day's road but when it rains we stay dry and the creepy crawlies are outside.

It will be interesting to see what's changed in twenty three years. We are expecting more people on the road and higher prices and perhaps less rusticity and more commercialism. I hope not.

Regardless, an adventure is an adventure and its nice to have a different view outside the window every few days.

You can follow out progress here and by looking at the tab "Today's Map" or the itinerary under "Most Recent Tour". Most days, there will be a link to photo embedded in the blog plus other links to handy sites providing more detail of things we've seen and done.

Cheers,

Pete & Sue
