SFT Tour - Day 7 - Millthorpe

We left Bathurst mid morning for the short hop to Orange under cloudy skies and the threat of rain.

A detour along the way to Millthorpe proved to be very pleasant. Known as a historic village because of the number of 100 year old buildings and the still partially cobble stone streets, like many villages of this type, it makes the most of the opportunity to milk the tourist dollar. Our favourite spot was Millthorpe Chocolates, who operate a cafe in the old railway station. The coffee was rich but not as rich as the chocolate. I had three very cacao thick, dark chocolate frogs, which were still sitting on my palate more than hour later. Great, friendly service.

We walked through the main section of the town. Correction: I walked through the town and Sue called in at art galleries and curio shops. Rather than pulling out the phone and cruising social media, I climbed a tree. It's the first time I've done that - without a chainsaw - since I was a kid.

It was a short final leg to Orange, where we spent 45 minutes with a very helpful lady from the Information Centre, who helped us plan our next few days.
