Having lived there for a significant number of years, it always feels a lot like home. This particular weekend was rather special as we were attending the opening of a new exhibition at the New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM). The exhibition, "Objective Subjective" saw objects from the University of New England (UNE) Museum of Antiquities and artworks from NERAM chosen to be exhibited together along ten themes. Writers were then asked to respond to the themes of the items chosen.
Peter was commissioned to write a poem about the theme of Light. His opportunity to take part was orchestrated by the Director of the Tamworth Regional Art Gallery who put his name forward. A panel of writers spoke about their responses at the opening and Peter read the poem to the assembled crowd of 70.
That evening, we went to the Armidale Dramatic and Musical Society production of "Things I Know To Be True" by Andrew Bovell. It was an outstanding presentation in the Armidale Playhouse, of a stunning play by one of Australia's best playwrights.Coffee in the Mall the following morning before returning to Tamworth in the afternoon. A great little diversion, leaving the van behind in Tamworth for a change.
