After a casual start, we went back to the Location Cafe for a morning coffee, intending to sip and read and waste some time. This was altered by a weather warning from the Bureau of Meteorology, of an approaching front with potential wind gusts up to 100kph. Um, okay.
Back at the caravan park, we removed our shade structure and literally battened down the hatches. We both went through our options and decided that as the wind escalated, we would close the lids on the van and leave for the comfort and safety of the camp kitchen. Things we would need were stored in the car so that in the event of a quick evacuation, we could just concentrate on closing down the van. We also consulted with the park owners about previous wind events in order to determine if we should just head north to avoid the event altogether.
About 4:30 we made the move to the camp kitchen and then watched the wind rage for the next two hours. The wind speed were only two thirds of those predicted but we were glad we made the call. Sue painted a scene from near the park and I finished the editing and re-writes for a play the Tamworth Dramatic Society will be testing out at a public reading in May.

Back home at 9:00pm, the wind had become manageable so we opened up and moved back in.
An odd day.
