TOD Tour 2.0, Day 10: Emerald - Art Gallery, Library, The Irish Village

The Irish Village
We were back into Emerald this morning in order to visit the Art Gallery. It was closed.

The Library across the road seemed to not know much about the Art Gallery but must have some things going for it. It's a beautifully designed building with all those things you'd expect in a library - not withstanding librarians who know what's happening. Outside, a healthy community garden has all sorts of things growing and several concrete tables are topped with mosaics. Those little tiles appear to be all the rage in Emerald.

Going back to Clermont St, which is the Capricorn Highway, we visited The Irish Village, which is a fancy name for a very good Irish replica pub. The front half of an extensive area is given over to a bar and several small alcoves which so typical of Irish pubs. The back half is given over to a large dance floor and band space. Under normal circumstances, the opportunity to have a Guinness could not be denied but today, full of antibiotics and snot, it wasn't worth the complications I would face in my afternoon.

Back to camp for a lazy afternoon and a chance encounter with a bird we have never seen before: the Grey Crowned Babbler. I don't usually use any photos we haven't taken but it wasn't possible for me to be patient enough this afternoon.

We dined on pizza at the open air restaurant at our caravan park and listen to the entertainer mentioned yesterday. Tonight, he threw in some original material, which will always curry my favour and it ended up being a pleasant meal.
