Jetty Tour Day 32 - Dubbo to Home

Just a drive, really.
Last lunch for the trip

Did a couple of jobs in Dubbo before leaving. Sue caught up with an old Maclean school friend, Sally Egan. She was also traveling.

We had morning tea in Dunedoo ... well moaning tea. The cafe we stopped at was retro but not because it was the chic it was shooting for, just because its an old joint. Coffee was dreadful. They thought ambiance was something you called when someone gets injured.

Lunch was at the Black Stump Rest Stop outside Coolah. Another tale and claim on the "original black stump" here, complete with charged tree and information sign. We lingered, not really wanting to get home.

The rest of the journey across the Breeza Plain and past Werris Creek was so familiar, it helped break

us in for the inevitability of our own street.

Spent the evening watching news and Netflix, something we were convinced we hadn't missed but now we are not so sure!

A great trip of four and a bit weeks ends.

Jetty Tour Day 31 - Dubbo

Just a big fat rest day in order to give Sue's back a break before the final push home.

In the morning we found what must be the best cafe in town, the Dahab Cafe. Everything about the place was perfect and gave it one of my few 5 star ratings on Trip Advisor.

From there, it was off to the former Dubbo High School and the Western Plains Cultural Centre. Sensational use of space and marriage of old architecture and new. The centre is home to an excellet art space and an even better museum, where less is more. The current exhibitions in the art space were outstanding.

Home for lunch and a Facetime with the Tamworth grandchildren. They are such a delight.

In the afternoon, we went to a shopping centre for groceries. They are the same everywhere: noisy, full of kids disagreeing with their parents and lonely people.

Home tomorrow.

Jetty Tour Day 30 - Goolgowi to Dubbo

Just a driving day. Nothing special.

The only moment of sightseeing interest came at the very small, mostly dead Weethalle, where two wheat silos have been painted by the Melbourne artist Hessko. Lovely work.

Morning tea in West Wyalong in a Geek Cafe. Lots of furniture reminiscent of Big Bang Theory but extra good coffee. Next door lots of model cars and nerdy stuff was on sale. We purchased a couple of pull-back cars for grandchildren.

Lunch at Parkes, right beside the steam locomotive which has been there for more than 40 years. A team of volunteers was giving it a tidy up paint job today. Lovely adjoining park with lots of space, a big lake and a fountain in the middle.

Finally arrived at Dubbo although with day light saving finishing, we made an early start. We missed the turn in to our park because of road works. When we did get in, the place was teaming with Queenslanders and their voluminous hordes of children. We had an uphill, quite small site which I naturally backed the van at first attempt. Getting so good at it I wish I didn't have to stop.

Dinner at the Dubbo Club tonight. Nice Sunday roast for me and pizza for Sue. Beer for me, red wine for Sue.

Dull, dull, dull.

Another day in Dubbo before home.
